We are fortunate to serve as a Minnesota GreenCorps host site for another year and to welcome Joe Cella, who is now serving as GPI’s GreenCorps member.
Minnesota GreenCorps is a statewide initiative helping to preserve and protect Minnesota’s environment while training a new generation of environmental professionals by engaging 42 AmeriCorps members who serve at 42 local governments, nonprofits, and educational institutions across the state.
Joe’s GreenCorps service at GPI will focus mainly on the Cities Charging Ahead! program, which is a peer cohort of 28 cities working together across Minnesota to explore electric vehicle readiness. Participants in the cohorts receive technical assistance focused on actions and best practices, based on the GreenStep Cities program, that cities can implement to accelerate the adoption of electric vehicles
As Joe shared with us, he jumped at this opportunity to get hands–on environmental work around the state and is eager to get to know people working in this area. Joe said that through his experience growing up in greater Minnesota, he “learned firsthand to value the state’s beauty and resources and how important it is to provide opportunities for all people to engage in this area of work.”
