Fall is a beautiful time of change and transition, and in that spirit, we have exciting news of change and opportunity to share ourselves!

It is with gratitude and celebration that we share Lola Schoenrich is evolving her leadership role at GPI, stepping back from serving as vice president of Communities and into a part-time senior fellow role where she will continue to contribute her considerable experience and expertise.

Lola has been a pillar in energy, climate, and community work for her 17 years at GPI and long before she joined our team. She is a knowledgeable and inspiring leader, and in her new senior fellow role, Lola will continue to mentor colleagues earlier in their careers, contribute to new project development and fundraising, remain connected to professional networks, and grow relationships valuable to our collective work to accelerate the clean energy transition.

The power of community engagement

The work of the Communities team is essential to our mission. Change starts at the community level. Because of the tremendous talent and partnerships cultivated in our Communities program, the expertise and effectiveness of authentic community engagement thrive at GPI. This enables and amplifies the decarbonization strategies for the whole organization.

We specialize in best-practice sharing and one-on-one cohort assistance with local governments and community organizations to engage the people and networks that make change happen. Nowhere is this truer than how we achieve equitable access to clean energy benefits, which is central to GPI’s mission and values.

Interim leadership

I am equally pleased to share that Brian Ross will step in to serve as interim vice president of the Communities team in addition to his current role as vice president of Renewable Energy. He knows the program well through both his history and the ongoing overlap and collaboration between the Renewable Energy and Communities teams. Brian has the respect and trust of Lola and the Communities team and is well-positioned to provide stability and continuity to the Communities team as an interim vice president. These changes will take effect on November 1.

Please join me in thanking Lola for her countless contributions to GPI and congratulating her on this opportunity to move into a new, exciting chapter!
