MINNEAPOLIS—The Great Plains Institute (GPI) released the following statement by President and CEO Rolf Nordstrom on GPI becoming a founding member of the Minnesota Cleantech Consortium, which was announced this week via a launch coinciding with the inaugural Minnesota Cleantech Innovation Day:

“GPI is honored to be a founding member of the new Minnesota Cleantech Consortium. It builds on two important features of Minnesota’s history: technological leadership and public-private cooperation that serves the common good.

Since GPI’s founding, we have said that tackling climate change is the largest opportunity for innovation and reinvention since the Industrial Revolution. While much of the technology we need to succeed already exists and just needs to be scaled up, we will also need new technologies to fully achieve an equitable net-zero carbon economy. This new consortium will help make that possible and create opportunities for all.

At the end of the day, all tech should be clean tech, and we are eager to have our home state of Minnesota lead the way to an economy that is good for people, the planet, and profits.”
