I am delighted to welcome Drew Henry as the Great Plains Institute’s communications director. Drew will lead GPI’s communications efforts in crafting the organization’s message, elevating our work and the work of our partners, and delivering strategic and tactical support to GPI’s program teams.
Bringing more than a decade of combined strategic communications, energy, and political experience, Drew will be an excellent fit to support GPI in amplifying our mission and shaping the national, regional, and local decarbonization conversation.
Drew couldn’t be joining GPI at a more propitious time. We are doing some of our most impactful work ever, both in our home state of Minnesota and in cities and states across the country. And because the primary barriers to our mission success are social, political, institutional, and behavioral, our need for artful, nuanced, strategic communications that galvanize action has never been greater. Drew is the right person for the job!
“It’s a privilege to join one of the nation’s leading organizations working to accelerate the transition to a net-zero emissions world for the benefit of people, the economy, and the environment,” said Drew. “In this pivotal period and unprecedented opportunity to build a clean energy future and disrupt climate change, GPI has the right message at the right time, and it’s exciting to be a part of the team.”
Prior to GPI, Drew served in multiple communications leadership roles at Xcel Energy, one of the nation’s largest investor-owned utilities, most recently managing executive communications and corporate thought leadership.
He holds a BA in history from Yale University and lives in his hometown of St. Paul with his wife, Lauren Beecham Henry, two children, and dog, Humphrey. Engaged in his community, Drew serves on the board of directors for Mount Olivet Rolling Acres and enjoys coaching his children’s athletic teams.
Please join me again in welcoming Drew to GPI!
