October’s GreenStep Cities workshop focuses on waste management and reduction. The workshop began with introductions by Phillipp Muessig, GreenStep Cities, who then moved on to provide an overview of recent changes to best practice 22: Solid Waste Prevention and Reduction. (2:30) The following presentation by Kim Walsh, Minnesota Pollution Control Agency (MPCA), focused on compost marketability in Minnesota (11:30). Angie Berdash, MPCA then discussed commercial recycling. (43:51). The workshop concluded with Colleen Sinclaire, City of Coon Rapids, discussing multi-unit recycling in the City of Coon Rapids (1:04:22). At the workshop, GreenStep Cities Staff distributed a Organics Recycling Outreach Guide, Recycling Guidelines for Businesses, and a Template: City-Hauler Contract.
